Gluten & Dairy Free
Now everyone can enjoy the Bizzie Lizzie’s experience
We want everyone to be able to enjoy the delicious food on offer at Bizzie Lizzie’s. That’s why as well as our vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, and calorie counted dishes, we also now offer a wide range of gluten-free options for the growing number of people diagnosed with coeliac disease or suffering with gluten intolerance or sensitivity. Plus, we have many dairy-free alternatives for those with lactose intolerance or who want to avoid dairy products.
Gluten Free Fish and Chips Cooked in Sunflower Oil!
Our signature dish of award winning fish and chips can be ordered Gluten Free at our Swadford Street restaurant and takeaway. Crisp and full of flavour, our gluten free batter uses a mixture of rice, potato, tapioca, maize, buckwheat and gram flours, all of which are completely gluten-free.
And to make sure that there is no chance of contamination from oil containing scraps of the normal wheat flour batter, a standalone fryer is used exclusively to cook the gluten-free fish in 100% high oleic sunflower oil.
Despite gluten-free batter being more expensive, our gluten-free battered fish is available at exactly the same price as our normal battered fish. Each fillet of gluten-free fish is cooked to order so there may be a small wait, but well worth it for the taste and peace of mind.

National Gluten Free Accreditation
We are proud to have received Gluten Free accreditation from Coeliac UK, the national charity for people with coeliac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis for our gluten-free menu.
For peace of mind look out for the easily recognisable gF symbol on the menus at both our Swadford Street and High Street Car Park restaurants and takeaways. The Gluten Free symbol shows that we meet Coeliac UK’s strict standards and can safely cater for anyone needing Gluten Free food.
Obtaining the Gluten Free accreditation was a thorough process which involved Coeliac UK looking at our staff training, our communication with other staff and gluten-free customers, supply chain controls, storage, preparation and cooking as well as hygiene.
Dairy-Free Alternatives
Most of our dishes at both restaurants are available as dairy-free alternatives, made with almond milk and dairy free spread. This includes appetising starters such as prawn cocktail, chicken goujons, or homemade soup, tasty main meals including our award-winning fish & chips, southern fried chicken or chilli and chips, plus mouth-watering desserts like chocolate fudge cake, syrup sponge pudding or Bramley apple pie all served with dairy-free custard.
