At Bizzie Lizzie’s our aim is simple – to provide fresh high quality food at affordable prices to give you a fantastic dining experience every single time you visit us.
Chipping Our Way to The Top
We bought Belmont Bridge Fisheries at Swadford Street in 1986 and began serving really good takeaway fish & chips. In 1989, we extended and modernised the premises to provide a first class traditional fish and chip restaurant and takeaway.
Now all we needed was a new name to reflect the success of our growing business. The answer came from one of our customers who suggested we use our founder Jean Ritson’s middle name of “Lizzie” and combine it with what we wanted the restaurant to be – “busy”. And so with a little poetic licence the Bizzie Lizzie’s we know and love today was born.
By combining the finest ingredients with hard work and our passion for making people happy, we gained an enviable reputation and in 1999 won the National Fish & Chip Awards, with visitors travelling from far and wide to taste our award winning Fish & Chips.
As our fame grew, we needed more space and in 2002 opened our second restaurant at High Street Car Park. With its fresh, modern interior and unusual décor it soon became a favourite with shoppers and visitors alike. Luscious afternoon teas were added to the menu making it the perfect central venue to meet and treat friends and family right through the day.
Since then we’ve added gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, and calorie counted options to our menus, so that everyone can enjoy the Bizzie Lizzie’s experience.
A Family Business with Family Values
Bizzie Lizzie’s is a family owned and run business, with three generations now working hard to make sure we remain Skipton’s favourite Fish & Chip restaurants.
We are constantly tweaking our recipes, adding to our menu and improving our service to provide an unbeatable dining experience time after time.
Spreading the Love
We feel very blessed by the way people from Skipton and beyond have taken Bizzie Lizzie’s to their hearts. So we like to give back to our wonderful community whenever we can.
We are proud sponsors of Barnoldswick Town Juniors under 7’s football team and committed supporters of local charity ‘Petal Childhood Cancer Research’ helping to raise over £1Million for much needed research into childhood cancer, giving parents and children the hope of many more tomorrows.
Protecting our Environment
Surrounded by the beautiful Yorkshire Dales we want to look after our environment for future generations to enjoy.
That’s why we installed the most energy efficient frying range currently available and use low energy light bulbs where possible. We recycle all plastic, cardboard & cans, cut transport miles by using local suppliers and constantly work to reduce our carbon footprint still further.
